Buying New vs Used 35mm Film Cameras

When it comes to buying a 35mm film camera, I’ve found that there are notable differences between going new or used.

On one hand, if you’re considering buying a film camera, you’re probably drawn to the nostalgic and vintage side of photography. So buying used (or refurbished or renewed) makes sense. For plenty of camera models, it will be necessary.

On the other hand, buying a used 35mm film camera is a more likely scenario to get a piece of faulty or soon-to-be faulty equipment, compared to other kinds of cameras.

One consideration is how practically you can get a used camera fixed. Consider searching Google for a reputable used-camera repair shop in your area. If you can’t find one close by, I’d definitely suggest buying new or refurbished equipment with a warranty. Fortunately, Amazon provides that.

All the used camera models I’ve suggested in this article are strong choices. They shouldn’t present much difficulty getting repaired if necessary.
